Baxley holds narrow lead over Cavanaugh in Alabama PSC race
MONTGOMERY ? Former Lt. Gov. Lucy Baxley held a narrow lead
over former Alabama Republican Party chairwoman Twinkle
Cavanaugh on Tuesday night in the race for president of the
state Public Service Commission.

Alabama easily re-elects Sessions to third term
On a grim day for Republicans nationally, U.S. Jeff Sessions, R-Mobile, romped to a third six-year term Tuesday, trouncing state Sen. Vivian Davis Figures, a Democrat also from Mobile, by a landslide margin.

Baldwin voters approve 3 amendments
BAY MINETTE ? Baldwin County voters approved three
constitutional amendments Tuesday designed to help their local
government resolve property valuation disputes, control parks
and regulate sewerage, according to unofficial results.

Incumbent Mike Dean wins third term as Mobile County commissioner
Mike Dean said he will spend his third term as Mobile
County commissioner paving more roads and building bridges,
those needed for travel as well as establishing relationships
that will foster economic development.

Long lines, high spirits at voting precincts in Mobile County
One-hundred-year-old Rachel Harris stepped out of her van
Tuesday morning at the Rock of Faith Missionary Baptist Church
in Mobile and saw voters lined up outside the door and around
the parking lot.

Mobile voters OK local amendments dealing with roads and dogs
Local voters approved two measures Tuesday to continue
improving roadways in Mobile County and to give law enforcement
new weapons to use against dangerous dogs.

Republicans take three Mobile County races
Republican candidates were celebrating victories late
Tuesday in three Mobile Countywide races: treasurer, revenue
commissioner and license commissioner.

School Board of Education
Randy McKinney of Orange Beach led Kenyon Berry in early
returns from the race for state school board.

Washington County narrowly rejects sales tax
Voters in Washington County rejected a sales tax by a
narrow margin Tuesday, according to unofficial results, despite
a weeks-long campaign from county officials, who wanted to use
the money for roads and bridges.
