"Scouting is a passion."
Bio: Brian Davidson, 35, opened his law office at 3965 Helena Road in October. A 1998 graduate of Birmingham School of Law, Brian struck out on his own after working with a firm. His wife, Kim, is his office manager and they live in Helena with sons Taylor, 10, and Jackson, 6. Why did you choose the legal profession? All my father's best friends were lawyers and I spent a lot of time as a kid running around the Russellville courthouse. How did you decide to go on your own? I had planned to go back to Russellville and open a small practice but I married a Birmingham girl. She was looking for houses one day and took a wrong turn in Pelham, ending up at the Helena Post Office. She was asking directions there and everyone was so nice and the town so pretty, she called me and said, `You've got to come see this town.' I came out and we're still here. What type of law do you practice? Primarily civil trial litigation, personal injury type work. I do a lot with firefighters and police officers. And now, with my practice, I'm doing more general work like wills, divorces and criminal cases. What do you like to do outside of work? Scouts and family. My wife comes from a large extended family. Her sister has moved to Helena and we're working on getting her mom and dad to come here once her younger sister graduates from high school next year. We renovated this building, and though it's not very big, every bit of renovation you see - walls, electrical, everything- was done by the whole family. And you're involved in Scouts? Scouting is a passion. Ever since my son got involved, I've been involved as much as him. I've been a Scout leader for the past five years and also serve as an instructor on numerous adult leader training courses across the Greater Alabama Council each year. Were you a Scout? I was, and it was great. But I love it even more now because you get more out of it as an adult. It's so much fun and, among other things, you help teach kids citizenship. You get back 10 times from the scouts as you give. Marienne Thomas-Ogle --
