Nick Saban spoke to the media Wednesday, addressing a number of topics, including Saturday's SEC Championship game against Florida, the rapid rise of Terrence Cody and this week's coaching carousel which continued today with the resignation of Auburn coach Tommy Tuberville.

Tommy Tuberville to Mark Richt: "Hey, you lost to Nick Saban too. How come you get to keep your job?"It's not clear yet if Tuberville was fired or resigned under pressure, but it was made clear a few days ago, he wanted an eleventh season at Auburn to right the ship after a rocky tenth season.

After a shocking 34-10 romp over the Clemson Tigers in the Georgia Dome to kick off the 2008 season, Alabama opened up at home with the Tulane Green Wave. Even though it wasn't the prettiest of games, the Crimson Tide relied on stout defense and Javier Arenas's 87-yard punt return for a touchdown to lead them to a 20-6 victory.

Kareem Jackson and the Tide are still No. 1 in the major polls.The AP voters ranked Florida No. 2, just a few points ahead of the Sooners. The coaches' poll (which counts in making up the BCS standings) had the Tide solidly at No. 1 and Oklahoma as the new No. 2.
The new BCS rankings will be released this evening between 6:00 and 6:30 central time.
